Easy to clean and wash:

The blades are a "top rack" dishwasher safe. The housing is not dishwasher safe,only hand wash. Suggest putting the parts in warm, sudsy water for minutes before washing, clean with a soft brush.

If the carrot stains the white housing, wipe it with cooking oil. After wiping clean, rinse with water.

Note:

1/This item fits for KitchenAid stand mixers, yet not created by Kitchen-Aid.

2/For a better performance: highly recommend using Speed Setting 6 or 8 and push the food slowly and not too hard.

3/Sticking the cheese in the freezer for about 10 minutes when grating softer cheese before shredding.

4/The Food Pusher is already installed in the housing, please pull it out before using it.

Time saver!
It’s such a great tool to have around. It saves time, it’s easy to clean, it seems like good quality and hopefully it will last for a few years. I was thinking about getting the original KitchenAid attachment but honestly, after seeing and feeling the original attachment (I had a cuisinart mixer before and it was way better quality) I thought I’ll give it a try with this set and I’m glad I did. Would recommend to anyone who is looking into buying it.

    BUT: it's not a big but, however, you have to watch it when grating softer cheeses like Old Cheddar and Gouda, because they tend to "jam up" in the grater. Not a huge deal; you just have to stop the procedure and ease the product out using some sort of plastic utensil before continuing. What I find works best is to place cheeses of this type in the freezer for about an hour before grating to "toughen" them up a bit. However, when thin slicing potatoes for Scalloped Potatoes or grating them for Potato Latkes or cabbage when making Cole Slaw, it works like a charm. Even though it is not a Kitchen-Aid product, it fits and operates beautifully. I highly recommend this attachment.
    Sept. 8: Now that I have owned this item for 9 months and have used it extensively, I have to say that it is one of my favorite "KITCHEN GADGETS". I have used it for all of the things I listed and it is terrific for grating cheeses: instead of buying grated cheeses in a package. It is not only economical to do so, but you end up with a better quality of grated cheese. Remember; there are Great Cheeses and there are Grated Cheeses (in a package), but there are no Great Grated Cheeses!

    I have used this attachment to prepare large quantities of food. for the price, it meets my expectations and my need. However, it does not feel very sturdy. I end up holding the attachment while pressing on the pusher to be sure not to break anything. Also, the mounth of the tube is a small. Too small for some vegetables. Long and narrow vegetables are good. It works well. But I found it is not well suited for bigger ones. It requires you to make quite small pieces: Cabbage, potatoes, larger cucumbers, beets, etc.
