No, it can't test RJ45 cables.
Will this detect through the wiring harness covering?

The EM415pro is unable to measure covered harnesses,but can be used to test automotive cables for shorts and breaks or to locate broken cables.
Can this be used to trace car and home power wires? Or using it on non live powered wires?

Can be used normally, But be sure to switch off the power, the test lead can't be electrified.
Sound is too low even at max volume. Changed battery, still quiet. What can I do?

If the signal is not strong enough, the sound will be lower, find a stronger signal and try it out.
