- Reviewed in Canada on January 11, 2021Verified PurchaseI tested it like this:
At 6:10pm I add hot water from the tap into the food jar, as this simple process warms up the jar, then lightly cover it with the lid (don't have to twist it on), while I start heating up my soup. At 6:30pm, I pour out the hot water and fill the jar with soup, close the lid, do a quick upside down test to assure no leaks, and pack it into my bag.
The spork the food jar comes with is small and kinda flat, honestly, I haven't used it at all. Instead, I take a spoon from my cupboard.
First lunch break is at 11:30pm. The soup is hot, like just off the stove hot. Cool it down before eating spoonfuls.
I save half of the soup for my next break at 2:30am, by this time, it's still hot but a nice, not burning hot.
Another time, I waited until my second break to eat from the food jar, so it was closed from 6:30pm to 2:30am, and it was hot like it had just been packed. I ate half and saved the rest of it for around 6:20am, while waiting for the bus outside in the cold, the soup was still nice and warm.
Once I get home, I soak the jar with warm soapy water for a couple hours before washing it, as it helps to clean out the smells and any dried on bits of food. Do not forget the food flask, closed up in your bag, for hours or until the next day, I know someone who does this, it's gross, and especially when there's still a lot of food left in it. The jar will release a rotten smell, or be no longer safe to open. As with most vacuum sealed food jars, do what the instructions say.
If you need a food jar that will keep food good and hot for more than 6/7 hours, get the 18oz over the slightly smaller size. The 18oz will hold an entire 540ml can of Chunky soup just up to the fill line; of course, watch it doesn't go passed that, otherwise the jar will leak.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 28, 2025Verified PurchaseI bought this as a soup or stew thermos for my husband to take to work. He likes it. Says liquids stay hot if I preheat the thermos with boiling water first. The lid has a good seal. Cleans up easily. Lightweight doesn't take up much room in his lunch cooler. I don't think it's insulated but it keeps liquid hot enough for 6-8 hours if you preheat it. He says the spork is too small so he brings a large spoon from kitchen.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 18, 2024Verified PurchaseThis is a great thermos and will keep my food warm for over 8 hours even when left in my car in the winter. The only slight downside to it is the spork can be tight to remove from holder and is plastic but is not a big deal to me.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 12, 2024Verified PurchasePurchased from the deals store as apparently had some cosmetic damage but honestly it was so minimal not even noticeable. That made the purchase price a steal compared to regular pricing. Arrived in good time and condition. It was given as a gift and recipient had asked for one and is so far extremely pleased with its performance.

- Reviewed in Canada on November 11, 2023Verified PurchaseI like this vacuum insulated lunch box, I tried to put hot water in it and wait 6.5 hours to check it, the water was still hot, so my daughter could have a hot lunch at school, it was great!
- Reviewed in Canada on December 6, 2020Verified PurchaseI was looking for a heavy duty BIFL ("Buy it for life") thermos and was dismayed that there didn't seem to be too many quality reviews with respect to my needs. Most reviews seemed to come from parents of children who sent their kids to school, or indoor workers. Quite frankly, I don't care about any gimmicks; I need it to keep my food hot, to have the right volume, to fit well in my cruise vest and to last a long time while being tossed around. I am happy that I spent the big bucks on this Stanley thermos, because it does all of these things very well.
I do forestry layout, and spend the winters hiking outside in snow for 4-5 hours per day. This thermos gets thrown in the back of my cruise vest where it jostles around with cans of spray paint and a hatchet until lunch time. When I open it up, I have steaming hot soup everyday no matter the conditions outside. The spoon holder is convenient. The thermos is a good size to hold in my hands, but if you have small hands you may want a version with a handle.
I am beyond satisfied.
Pro-tip: Make sure you pre-heat the thermos with hot/boiling water before putting your food into it for the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep hot food for a really long time
Verified PurchaseUsed it to keep my congee and rice. It is still steamy hot after 5 hours. The lid and the spoon make eating a packed lunch more convenient. Easy to wash and doesn't retain any odour like other thermal product.

5.0 out of 5 stars My husband loves him
Verified PurchaseI bought this product for my husband's work and it turned out to be the best investment because he has two meal times and the temperature of the food is perfectly preserved at the time he is going to eat it. I think it's worth the price and the practicality to take it everywhere

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps food hot
Verified PurchaseI have been wanting to get a proper food jar to keep my lunch (if it's soup) or breakfast (if it's porridge) hot as I am always pushed for time in the morning so do this the night before. I am very pleased with the results and it means that I don't have to spend lots of money in Pret or Eat on food that I don't really want!
Slightly more expensive than other small flasks or food jars, but it does actually work, so that is worth the money in my view. I might even get another one :)

Etwas mehr Volumen wäre toll, aber für eine kleine warme Mahlzeit reicht es aus

5.0 out of 5 stars Used it for Soups and noddles
Verified PurchasePerfect size for a ramen. Put hot water, then noodles and flavoring then close the lid. In 5 minutes, ramen is ready. But do not prepare when you plan to eat later and keep it i side longer, or else noodles will be too soggy.
