I was looking for a heavy duty BIFL ("Buy it for life") thermos and was dismayed that there didn't seem to be too many quality reviews with respect to my needs. Most reviews seemed to come from parents of children who sent their kids to school, or indoor workers. Quite frankly, I don't care about any gimmicks; I need it to keep my food hot, to have the right volume, to fit well in my cruise vest and to last a long time while being tossed around. I am happy that I spent the big bucks on this Stanley thermos, because it does all of these things very well.
I do forestry layout, and spend the winters hiking outside in snow for 4-5 hours per day. This thermos gets thrown in the back of my cruise vest where it jostles around with cans of spray paint and a hatchet until lunch time. When I open it up, I have steaming hot soup everyday no matter the conditions outside. The spoon holder is convenient. The thermos is a good size to hold in my hands, but if you have small hands you may want a version with a handle.
I am beyond satisfied.
Pro-tip: Make sure you pre-heat the thermos with hot/boiling water before putting your food into it for the day.
