I used this tool on the most difficult to care for part of my lawn that is on a steep hill and abuts a road that is salted and sanded throughout the winter. The soil is also hard-packed from trucks and cars running over it. I’ve tried other ways to loosen the soil before seeding but none have worked better than the Sancat aerator. The 11 tines are strong, sharp, and long enough to penetrate the soil and fit between small buried rocks. It worked better than a “plug” aerator in this situation. After aerating, I added top soil and grass seed and will aerate again in the fall when my neighbor returns it. He lives across the road with the same problem. When he saw how easy it was to use, he asked to borrow it. I was happy to have a tool to loan him for a change!
