- Reviewed in Canada on May 1, 2024Verified PurchaseI had recently purchased 3 books from this series (Arduino, Python, and 3D Printing). I bought them because I plan to send kid to the STEM camp, and those are on the program description. So I thought having some background study wont hurt, for both kid and myself. All 3 books have the right amount of information for the beginner, the scope and the depth of the knowledge are just right, things are explained clearly yet concisely, easy to understand, and I enjoyed reading them. The author is friendly and sent me the free PDF eBooks quickly upon my request. For 3D printing book, the PDF has a much clearer color pictures of the screen captures of the control app UI, so don't be shy to ask for it (email is in the book). The author, Ben, is willing to answer questions raised from the reading, so that is plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for complete beginners
Verified PurchaseI bought this as I had no knowledge at all about 3D printing, apart from the basic technical principles of how they work. I found this very useful indeed, giving enough of the background information, plus details on filament types and problems that can be encountered to get me going.
I did find references to some recommended printer models a bit out of date of course, as I suspect this is an area where new models are being introduced every few months and no book will be up do date in that respect.
This still gave me some good ideas on what to look for, and although I'll probably buy one more intro book before taking the plunge, this was a good start and recommended reading for anyone intending to start printing for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Newbie
Verified PurchaseI'm new to 3D printing and rolled to it thinking it was pretty plug-and-play. Instead, it's very Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
I gained understanding of terms and processes that are essential to 3d printing and, being A.D.D., would have evaded my whole-picture understanding for quite a while if I just relied on websites and forums.
I'm not sure how well this book suits other levels of printers, but I found it WELL worth the money.
