My first impression of this item is that the build quality (especially the wall mount bracket) is far more substantial than what would be required for the stated 19.8 pound weight limit. I expect that limitation is down to the maximum weight the spring height adjustment mechanism can work properly with. I appreciate equipment that is overbuilt vs. "just good enough".

This is comprised of two arm sections, but the the rearmost arm section points at an upward angle, with no vertical adjustment, only rotation (horizontal). The next section closest to the monitor is the one that supports height adjustment, and when pushed all the way down, brings the monitor to about the same level as a straight arm protruding from the mount would provide.

Adjustment up and down takes some effort, but that also reduces the chance the mount will droop over time with a heavier monitor.

For mounting to the monitor, both 4mm and 5mm screws are provided, both 12mm in length, along with 4 washers.

The holes in the wall mount are slightly larger than a 1/4" or 7mm screw, but slightly smaller than a 5/16" or 8mm screw. Based on the size of the washers in the package, the included lag screws are 1/4". This was important for my installation, as my plan was to attach this to the side of a large (and heavy) cabinet, using bolts secured with nuts on the backside.

As priced at the time of review ($39.99) my opinion is that this monitor arm represents a good value and I would have no hesitation recommended it for installations it is intended for (e.g., a suitable vertical surface).

I have a 3 + 1 monitor setup on my computer but I wanted to add two more monitors to the top portions so I can have a wireless HDMI from my DVR and also another one to watch either fire stick or Zumo on the other one wall I'm running my three monitor setup for the ultimate entertainment/ security/ productivitycenter and this thing is awesome. I actually grabbed this and the Dual Mount that mounts to a table to add the other one so I can set up a whole another four monitor setup if I want to and run multiple systems and this thing is super heavy duty very easy to use and there's tons of adjustments and all different directions. This one's holding my TV mounted to the wall and it's able to reach out far enough to match up almost exactly with my three plus one system and ended up working out great. I love how the best amount actually slides off the arm so I can just pop the whole entire TV down if I need to and there's tons of adjustment to tighten everything up and whether you're going up down side to side or whatever direction. Overall I highly recommend this thing. It came very well packaged with everything in the box and all the stuff you need to hook it up and get it going and 100% worth the money

Review of B0DW42YXLK - monTEK Single Monitor Full Motion Arm Wall Mount:

I test and repair a lot of vintage computer motherboards and components. For displaying tests, I have a 17inch LCD monitor which is a good size for this. It's a good monitor, but it's old and heavy. I ordered this wall mount so I could recover precious desk work space, and also to be able to reposition the monitor as needed. In addition, I can swing the monitor out of the way to access shelving that it had previously blocked. This monitor arm has solved a number of problems and made my workspace more efficient. The arm swings very smoothly and the tension is easy to adjust to get it just right.

As is often the case, the instructions are not written for actual encounters. I spent over 80% of the entire assembly time working on cable management. The instructions have you do cable management as the final step, but I highly recommend that you work with it BEFORE you complete the assembly. The top cable cover just slides up with four teeth catching in notches. That's relatively easy, but is easier if you can actually see what's happening. Just take the top cable cover off and leave it off as you assemble the arms; then you'll know how it fits when you install the cables.

The bottom cable cover is where I ran into major problems. This cover is held by a hidden screw. Since the arms were already assembled to the bracket at that point, I couldn't see what I was trying to do. First, I had to figure out that it is a Phillips head, but then I couldn't get it to budge. Getting nowhere, I decided to loosen the screw holding the bottom arm to the bracket and remove the entire arm assembly. Then I could see that in my attempts to loosen the screw, and being unable to see, I had already somewhat mangled the Phillips slot. With the arm removed, I could brace the arm so I could add significant pressure with the torque, but it still wouldn't budge.

Thankfully, that screw also has a standard slot and, using that, I was finally able to get the screw out. It's a steel screw and the female threads are cut directly in the alloy of the arm. I could see one side of the threads in the alloy were not great. I put a little oil on the screw threads and screwed it in and out a few times until it worked more smoothly. With the arm still removed, I installed the cables and the covers before reattaching the arm to the bracket. It was much, much easier that way; I doubt I could have succeeded with the arm attached to the bracket. Note, in the event this screw head gets too damaged, the screw is M5-0.8 x 20mm. I did not have to replace the screw, but made a note of the size just in case.

The arm is working great now, but the installation was a lot more trouble than it needed to be. It seems that I would finally learn the lesson by now: always run through every step of instructions before beginning assembly -- had I done that, I would have removed the cable management covers and seen that they should be removed prior to assembling the arm.

It feels to be made of high quality, sturdy materials, and it has great cord pass-through allowing for easy cable management, keeping your desk free of cords. Not only that, but it is very easy to install, just make sure your desk has a stud on the wall near where you want to put the monitor before you order this, to ensure that it will work for your set-up.
