My keypad battery only lasted about one month before I had to recharge. The MyQ power adaptor was twice the cost of this one. This power cord works great and keeps my keypad fully charged. Note that this cord DOES NOT charge the battery. My keypad was at 9% battery when I installed this cord, and I was under the assumption the power cord would charge the battery. So I hooked up the cord and 2 days later the battery was still @ 9%. I took battery out, fully charged it, and then reinstalled the power cord. One week later and the battery is still fully charged.

This kit works well and is easy to install. It requires 1/2” hole to be drilled in the door frame if you plan to hide the wire. This unit powers the keypad but does not charge the battery so charge it before you install the kit so it is available if the power fails. No modification of the keypad is required the ribbon wire will come out the side of the battery cover just fine and the lid will seal.

I recently purchased the iTODOS 20ft/6m Power Cable and Adapter for my myQ Smart Garage Door Video Keypad, and I am extremely impressed. This cable solved the biggest annoyance I had with the keypad — constantly worrying about battery life.

From the moment I opened the package, everything felt high-quality. The cable is flat, flexible, and easy to route along the siding of my garage without looking sloppy. The length (20 feet!) gave me more than enough room to run it cleanly to an outlet. The connection into the keypad fits perfectly and securely — no wiggling or loose feel.

Weatherproofing is legit. We’ve already had rain and heavy morning dew, and the cable and connection point are completely unaffected. My keypad stays powered 24/7 without interruption.

Installation was incredibly simple:

This is a game changer! Before I go into the review, let me just explain how to avoid the pitfalls that were experienced by those who later left negative reviews. The first thing you should do upon getting this item is to take your camera off the mount, remove the battery, and charge it using the USB that came with it. After it has charged, install this and it will forever show your battery life at 100 as long as you have it plugged in. It will only use battery power when it is unplugged or you lose power, which is such a great thing considering how quickly they tend to require recharging.

The screw on the housing for this camera is stupid tiny. Based on this alone, I was thrilled to find a way to reduce the likelihood that I would drop it and it be lost forever by incorporating a power backup system. Additionally, that battery pack is an absolute b**** to remove. I always ended up having to use a small flathead screw driver to engage the mechanism that would let it come out.

To tell you I was thrilled during what I hope will be one of the last times I had to pry that sucker out would be a huge understatement. You genuinely just need to plug it into the battery (again after you charge it completely if you want to always see 100 on your battery in the app), carefully reinstall the battery and close the lid. Yes, do be aware that you should not make kinks in the black ribbon portion of the cord. It is not a ribbon in the same way there is a ribbon connecting your screen to your battery on the inside of an iPhone however. It's more like if 1/4" decorative ribbon came with wired edging. It is very sturdy still, despite its width. It must be uncoated though or the battery packs cover would never close.

Do try to give some grace in how taught you make the plugged in cord in the battery housing. I suggest not pulling it tight before closing the lid to limit the chances of you damaging it.

I then used command rope light clips with the outdoor command strips to create a neat and orderly appearance on both the outside and inside of my garage. I placed one directly on the bottom of the camera itself and then another one maybe 1/2" below the camera on the wall. I did this to specifically mind the area of the cord that is black and to ensure that any taughtness I created later with plugging it into the wall would not result in potentially harming that area of the cord. After I had that tucked safely away, I just put one command clip/hook every 3-5 feet all the way to the plug inside my garage. I made sure to put one at the bottom of my exterior garage door to set up for the cord to go below my sensor and avoid it getting caught up in the mechanical things going on just inside the door. I then placed another one just inside the garage door area so it was situated to keep it and my garage door safe and in working order.

I highly recommend this item for anyone with this type of camera system.

Nice solution but 20 ft cable is a bit long. I wish they offered this device with a shorter 6-10 ft cable length. You don't need the swivel mount to install. You can drill a hole in the fixed OE lower plate.

Other reviewers who posted it only maintain the battery charge but doesnt increase the level are wrong. The usb based charge cable assembly does charge the battery to full 100% and then shuts off. The MyQ app doesn't show the battery charge increase. In my case, the battery was at 90% when connected and it still showed 90% after a day of being plugged in. I inserted a small USB charge meter between the USB plug and the cable during the original install. It showed a 1.2 Watt charge rate that dropped to 0 watt charge rate after a day, but MyQ app still said 90%. I unplugged the battery from the MyQVideo keypad for 60 seconds. When the battery was reconnected the battery level now displays 100%.

Sept 2025 4 month update- NO LONGER RECOMMEMD -Lowered rating Cable snapped in two after 3 months of usage. Cable snapped 2" from the battery connector. Toss in the garbage. Waste of money. I see a second review showing same failure.
