Extremely cheap controller. The analog stick does not even respond properly, especially on the rightt side. It is a convenient plug and play for an emulator such as PJ64, but it will not be a pleasant experience. If you do not care about your gaming experience and just want to relive some classic games for a little bit, then sure get it. But its not a very good controller at all. I paid mine 25 CAD in 2023. It is not worth a penny more, believe me.

Bought this to play some N64 games with RetroArch. First off the controller feels great. Its not quite the original but feels close enough. I got it working perfectly with retroarch in about 30-45 min (through trial and error) however I can't say with confidence that I could redo it. The best advise I can give from recollection is this:

Configure through the main menu via settings > Input > Controller port 1

Device type: Controller
Analog to digital type: None
Device Index: Controller (Dinput)
Then click each button option and it will prompt you to press a button on the controller to map it. Left stick is the joystick. Right stick is the C-buttons. Z trigger is L2. A button is B button (down). B button is Y button (left). Start is start (duh). Shoulder buttons are L and R buttons respectively. D-pad buttons are d-pad buttons.

First it didn't work at all, then I deleted my previous core remap file (in-game) and then resaved core and game remap files. Magically that did it. Now that I have it working I'm a happy camper. Goldeneye here we go!

The issue with emulation is the interface. Emulation works on a compiled 'core".

However, that is not why I purchased it and it had not been addressed so I bought it on a wish.

I purchased this to run with Retroarch through Launchbox. Setting up launch box to use Muppen64 via retroarch is simply a click and a click. However the controller would not function to any degree. To trouble shoot I installed project64, mapped the controller, and was able to go go gadget. When back to launch box, remapped the keys, which it rocognized as show in the SS. Launch, no joy. Recheck core options, muppen64.

So I have 3 options. The controller has a malfunction, it does not work with the launch box/retro interface or I missed something. After browsing my settings and posting questions to the community, I had had mixed responses where some got "A" N64 USB to work and others did not, over the course of 2 days.

So, as it sits, I would assume...I emphasize assume, that this controller does not work via retroarch/launch box, but DOES work with Project 64. As I posted, it maps easily but does not function in Retroarch VIA Launch Box NOR does it function in Retroarch as a stand-alone.

I DID NOT want to buy continue using my steam controller...because the RUN and jump are on top of each other, and remapping will jsut confuse the other 2 button orders I am used to from the N64.

Oh well.. GREAT for Project64 though

Seems to work fine, looks spot on to the original. I'm using it for Ship of Harkinian and it has no issues, except Steam needs to be shut down while the emulator is running otherwise Steam will override your button configuration. This is of course true of all controllers, so it's not an issue for me.

The one unfortunate downside is this controller does not actually have a functional connection in the accessory slot on the controller's underside. That means no rumble pack, and the controller does not seem to have a built in rumble function. Not a dealbreaker for the price, but a bit disappointing. I will be keeping this and using it for all my n64 emulations regardless.
