Control Your Set-Top Box on Fire TV Cube (3rd Generation)

After you set up equipment control, you can use Alexa voice commands to do things like switch in puts or go to specific channels.

The set-top box and Fire TV Cube need to be within line of sight of each other and should be connected with a high-speed HDMI cable rated at 18 Gbps or higher.

For a list of supported set-top box providers, go to Supported Set-Top Box Providers on Fire TV Cube. If you're connecting your set-top box directly to your Fire TV Cube, go to Use Your Fire TV Cube to Control a Set-Top Box Connected to Your TV.

To set up equipment control for devices connected to your Fire TV Cube's HDMI IN input:

  1. Select Inputs from your Fire TV home screen.
  2. Highlight the HDMI tile.
  3. Press the Menu button on your Fire TV remote and select Change Device Name.
  4. Select Cable or Satellite, depending on your setup.
  5. Choose your TV provider, or select Provider not listed.
Your Fire TV Cube will test the connection with your set-top box.
  6. To complete setup, follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: If you experience issues completing setup, please make sure that your Fire TV Cube is in the line of sight of your TV and your set-top box. You may need to turn off HDMI control on your set-top box. Please refer to your set-top box user manuals or call your provider to learn how to turn off HDMI control from your set-top box settings.
