Audio Playback in the Fire TV Ambient Experience

Listen to and control audio playback while in the Ambient Experience, or switch to full-screen audio interaction.

Note: The Fire TV Ambient Experience isn't available on all Fire TV devices. To check if Fire TV Ambient Experience is available on your device:
  1. Select Settings .
  2. Select Display & Audio.
  3. If available, the Ambient Experience option appears in the menu.

While in the Ambient Experience start an audio stream by:

  • Selecting an on-screen widget (for example, Alexa Music).
  • Voice request ("Play music from my library.")
  • Casting audio from a mobile phone.
Note: If casting audio from an app, such as Spotify, make sure the app is installed on the Fire TV device and signed into the correct account.

When audio plays in the Ambient Experience, a "Now Playing" indicator appears on-screen. It shows album art, current playback state, the artist, and song. Control the audio with the remote buttons or your voice.

While audio is playing in the normal Fire TV experience, short-press the power button or say, "Go to Ambient." Audio playback continues in the Ambient Experience, with the "Now Playing" indicator on the screen. To switch back to the full-screen audio playback, use your voice to open the specific app or press the Select or OK button on the remote with the "Now Playing" indicator selected on the screen.
