Set Up Alexa Two-Way Video Calling on Your Fire TV Device

To make video calls, connect a compatible webcam to your Fire TV device.

Alexa Two-Way video calling is supported on these devices:
  • Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series
  • Fire TV Omni QLED Series
  • Fire TV Omni Series
  • Fire TV Cube (3rd Generation)
  • Fire TV Cube (2nd Generation)
Note: The webcam is not included with the device and must be purchased separately.
To make video calls, your webcam needs:

  • A USB 2.0 connection cable
  • At least 720p resolution
  • At least 30 frames per second, uncompressed

Note: If you have a Fire TV Cube (2nd Generation), you also need a USB 2.0 to micro USB adapter.

Webcams with 1080p resolution and 60-to-90 degree field of vision from 8.5 feet (3 m) are recommended.

To make video calls:

  1. Plug a compatible webcam into the USB port on your Fire TV device.
    1. If you want to use Ethernet, make sure to use an adapter that has a port for USB and Ethernet.
  2. Complete setup for Alexa Calling and Messaging in the Alexa app.
  3. To make a call, say, "Call [contact's] Echo."
Important: The video on Fire TV Cube is off by default. To turn it on for video calling, make a call, and say, "Video on." You can also press the menu button on your remote and activate the video. When you end the call, your video turns off automatically.
