Smart Motion on Echo Show 10

Echo Show 10 moves with you so that the screen stays in view as you move around the room.

How does Smart Motion work?

Echo Show 10 turns toward you when you say the wake word (like Alexa) and moves with you to keep its screen and camera in view. To choose whether the screen moves with you for all activities, for specific activities like videos and calling, or only when you ask, go to:

To approximate your location relative to the device and orient the screen, Echo Show 10 uses on-device processing to analyze microphone and camera inputs. No images or videos are sent to the cloud to provide the motion feature.

Smart Motion Basics

After selecting its rotation range and idle position during setup, your device rotates back to the idle position when it isn't in use. To reconfigure the range and idle position after moving your device, go to:

  1. Say, "Go to settings," or swipe down from the top of screen and select Settings.
  2. Select Smart Motion.
  3. Select Device Mapping & Idle Position.

To control motion in the following ways:

  • Turn off Smart Motion:
    • Swipe down from the top bezel and tap Motion.
    • In the Alexa app.
Note: Smart Motion will say Off until you turn it back On. To disable motion and motion-related features, close the built-in camera shutter or press the microphone/camera off button.
