Pros: many tools good light very sturdy & solid smooth writing pen
Conc: heavy (for a pen) threaded connections screw driver limitation
I like pens, multifunction gadgets and flashlights so this is great for me. The overall feel is very good. The flashlight is not bright compared to my mini rechargeable flashlights but of all the many lights I have seen that are part of a pen, this is the brightest.
This pen is about 1.5 times to 2 times the weight of a regular pen. It is also slightly longer so if you like to wear it in the shirt pocket like I do, you will notice it more than regular pen. The fact that it is longer and sticks up above your shirt pocket, makes it feels heaver than two pens in your pocket. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. If you carry it a bag, the weight and length will not be an issue. But if you carry it in your bag, be aware that the glass breaker end is exposed (you definitely do not want that touching the screen of your smartphone.
Despite the heavier weight, the pen is fine to write with; weight is well balanced so it does not feel heavy. If you do find it too heavy, you can always leave the cap (with the flashlight) off. The pen does look a bit like a fidget spinner with the cap off. The pen is black ink and writes very smooth.
The connections are all threaded so you have to unscrew the pen cap and then screw it to the glass breaker end to use it. Again, it is not a big deal, but it does take noticeably longer to pull your pen apart to start writing. A few times, I reached for a different pen when I wanted to make a very short note because I knew it would take longer to start writing with this pen.
The connections are threaded (three spots); very smooth turning in each case. This makes for a very solid connection and good tool. The cap can only cover one of the threads (either the pen end or the glass breaker end) at a time, which means at least one thread is exposed at all times. You should be careful about sand or dust which could get on the threads and potentially cause damage and make future screwing & unscrewing more difficult.
When you unscrew the glass breaker head, the multitool (screw driver, bottle opener & mini blade) is revealed and ready to use. The long length of the full pen makes it easy to use as a screw driver (I find it easier to use than my Leatherman screw driver). The one issue is that the multitool head is also screwed onto the main body. It had become unscrewed while the glass breaker head was covering it a few time (and cause a little rattling). The only issue with the multitool been screwed in place is if you need to loosen a tight screw. When I was trying to unscrew a tight screw from a wooden door, the multitool kept getting unscrewed from the body instead so I had to use another screw driver.
Overall a great unit. Much of the issues I mentioned are small points, but some people may find them annoying. Gadget lovers like me would really enjoy having one of these.
