Ordered this to repair a damaged spark plug thread in the head of an outboard motor. The tool itself is decent quality and the insert/punch combo works well, but it may not solve your problem right out of the box. First, the angle and shape of the plug hole in my engine head prevented inserting this tap all the way down to the larger diameter section I needed to use. Had to grind the smaller threaded section off the end of the tap so the larger diameter section could get into the tight space of the head. That was pretty quick (10 minutes) on a bench grinder with a hard wheel. Just remember to cool the tap frequently in a cup of water so you don't scorch the steel, and wear a mask because there'll be a lot of toxic dust. Second issue is the kit doesn't include a drill bit for the larger threaded portion of the tap. You may have to hunt around a few specialty tool shops to find the right size., and watch that the shank is small enough to fit whatever drill chuck you have!
Note that when using the insert you should also apply a little silicone to the threads to lock it in and ensure a gas-tight seal. Any good silicone like GE high temp or a silicone engine gasket sealant will work fine for a spark plug repair.
Finally, paying for shipping through Canada Post (my only option) was absolute crap. It shipped from Toronto for delivery to Ottawa and took more than a week to arrive. Really? I've ordered parts from Japan with free shipping and had them at my door in less than 48 hours. Inexcusable that a small item like this should take that long to arrive.
