Not sure what happened to cause it to break like this, but I have not received any help over this problem as of yet. I emailed them last week. As if this problem doesn't matter as much as the light bulb issue. I have not had to use it for any sort of excessive force, but I'm pretty sure if it is a "glass breaker "... Then it should be able to handle being in my pocket everyday and basically used as a package opener/ pen to write with. I am suddenly quite disappointed in the fact that I've had two of these and don't seem to have any luck with them working great for more than a few months. Like I said in my initial review of this item, it is super handy, however it sucks to have such a useful thing fail on you.
If there's a weakness in the casting of the pen, then this issue needs to be resolved. Mine should not have broke the way it did. Pulling it out of my pocket, twisted the flashlight slightly to make sure it wasn't loose (because sometimes it would be), and snap. I will update again if the company does resolve this problem.
This is a pen you'll likely never want to misplace once you get accustomed to it being on you. Super handy to have. Flashlight stopped working after a while I figured out moisture got into the battery compartment through the open space around the light bulb. So I took some Silicone Conformal Coating to the light bulb which also seems to have made it a little brighter because of the shiny clear coat it now has. Now it is truly water resistant.
The company is very good with their customer service just FYI. They reimbursed me for the price of buying another pen out of the 1 year warranty. Due to the light bulb issue.
