I originally purchase the 700 soundbar and sub because of the ability to have rear speakers, something my Cinemate II system lacked. I did not purchase the rears at the same time and as I looked at some online reviews I became doubtful on the need and quality. Complicating the decision was whether to go with the 180-surround set or the full 360 Bose 700 set. Because of the extra money and peoples comments I was not going to go for the 700鈥檚. But I decided to give them a try first to see, figuring I could always return if I did not like them.
Well with the first night they were hooked up I knew I was keeping them, I can鈥檛 believe the other reviews and I have to question those people鈥檚 setup or expectations. You add the rear speakers to a system to help fill the room with sound and these little speakers do that completely. Now important to realize your sound output has to support 5.1 or you won鈥檛 hear any sound out of them. So, as I watch YouTube, I hear nothing out of them, which is expected. Then while some shows make use a little out of them like Suits, that shows creators have chosen not to really use 5,1 and to be honest it does not really need to. But that does not mean a drama could not do a better job. For example, Mindhunters uses 5.1 amazingly and I am hearing sounds I did not know existed. Prior to adding the rears, I heard good sound out of the sound bar, but after I would hear all the background noises. A lot of the show happens in jails and you hear the closing and opening of jail cells. In the background This is just lower level back ground noise, but completely adds the show. Now watch Star Wars or 6 Underground on Netflix and you will be blown away with the room filling sound between the soundbar, the sub and now the rear 700鈥檚 it just completes the entire setup.
I had read the speakers were small, but not having seen them prior to my 麻豆区 order I was surprised how small they actually were. But this is a complete plus, they hide nicely in the room, but the sound is amazingly strong. I did turn them up in the app to hear more, but that鈥檚 why the feature exists, some seem to say that as a downside. Remember your rear speakers do not produce all the sound and are meant only for specific ones that the show鈥檚 creators decide will add value to the show you are watching and in my mind these speakers knock it out of the park.
I had intended to also pick up the 180 set to compare and maybe save some money. But in the end, I am too happy with the 700鈥檚 that I know longer intend to do the comparison and keep what I got. So, I cannot answer whether you could save some money and get the same out of the cheaper Bose speakers. But I can say you should not be disappointed with the 700鈥檚 and let鈥檚 be honest if you are looking to save money you don鈥檛 buy Bose. You buy Bose because you know you are getting superior sound and quality, but it is at a price. I also find that more expensive Bose systems do usually offer better sound then their cheaper cousins, but that鈥檚 just my opinion.
