I wasn't expecting much. My trusty Zircon Stud Sensor (third one I've owned over the years) was on its last legs and I was set to buy another. I've used them for work for years and I never buy the top of the line because their "center of the stud" technology never works the way they claim...the only way to actually find the real center of a stud (or beam, or pipe, or whatever is in the wall) with a Zircon in my experience is to approach it from the left, mark the wall as soon as it reads something, then approach it from the right and do the same. Manually figure out the center from those two marks....do *not* just go from left to right and mark the right edge as soon as the light goes out, because it reads differently approaching the stud than it does leaving it.
So it seems that Zircon has changed their lineup and I couldn't find one with the features that I wanted but without all the bells and whistles that I didn't want, making me decide to try this Franklin instead.
I've used it once...and it works just as they say it does. Very happy with it. I may even buy the best one now and keep this as a spare.
