- Reviewed in Canada on September 14, 2024I wanted to test this before using this at a party setting where things could go wrong if the cups didn't work.
I am IMPRESSED with the holding capability of the cups. I put plain water into the cup up to the rim. I left it standing exposed to the air for 48 hours an the seam of the cup did show some absorption, and the one side of the cup showed some absorption at 30 hours, the cup NEVER leaked.
The cup did not bow or get squishy or disintegrate. This means that I can prepare my munchie cups of veggies and dips at least a day in advance, close in the cellophane with the sticks and seal with the twist ties.
I know I can also use these for wetter cut up fruit.
To be clear, the cups are made of paper/ cardboard and feel like they are lined with wax (making them water resistant) and the bags are cellophane. Where I live the cups go to landfill but they will breakdown because they are not plastic.
The cellophane can be recycled where I live and the plastic sticks might be able to be recycled. The wooden (they feel like bamboo) will also go to landfill and breakdown, or they can be used as fire starters for outdoor camp fires after a quick rinse to remove food residue.
I really enjoy having party supplies that add to the occasion, and make set up easier. These are "prep in advance" cups with sticks and wrap to retain freshness. I have seen and used all plastic ones before, but for me, these are superior as I like the natural paper vibe.. you can easily write on them for kids who are using for things like popcorn, etc.
Great for adults and kids. I highly recommend.
