Okay, Gosling works well, But Crowe is past this and it is a sad sight to watch him try in vain to turn back the clock and the weight scales. Don't get me wrong; he can act, but this is not the genre for him and he comes across as a badly made version of Raymond Burr. Gosling is fine, but his part if not well written, most of the attention going to Crowe, a wrong-headed choice. That those responsible for the script were a little blind as seen in the total waste of the villainess. She is so wishy-washy and obviously miscast. And then we come to Matt Bomer. It isn't a part. He's a plot device with no depth. Pathetic, because only he and Gosling are right for this type of film. Gosling and Bomer should be cast as the "Nice Guys" heroes in a sequel and send Crowe scurrying back to his dramas. Which begs the question - why is Hollywood wasting Bomer? He can sing, dance, do comedy or drama, is as handsome as hell, and apparently a very nice man. And he has a large fan base with "White Collar" still turning up in prime time on a lot of stations. So, why waste him in this reasonable film or have him killed off near the beginning of "The Magnificent Seven" leave two good actors and five horrible choices for your leads?
