I was making a grilled cheese with 2 slices of bread and a slice of cheese, the simple kind of grilled cheese. As I was closing the lid and latching it shut, there was a crack and a big piece or the shell cracked and came off from the corner of it. This seems like it'd be a safety concern and issue if pieces of it will just crack and break off leaving the inside contents exposed, especially with high heat.
Be careful and avoid this!!
