  This isn't a DMC quality thread -- I purchased this for my beginner daughter based on having purchased this exact product from another seller for myself in the past. It isn't the strongest thread out there, the thread CAN break, so just be careful to not tug too hard, and use a good needle with no rough edges in the eye. Otherwise it's ok, and like I said in the title, if you're trying to just get more colours into your embroidery it does the job! I find it's just fine for thread painting in particular (one, two, or three strands), as that consists mostly of straight stitches, long and short stitch, and how much you spent on your thread doesn't really show when your stitches are densely packed when blending one colour into another. It has a nice sheen, not as nice of course as silk, but much easier to handle (I find silk snags on even dry skin on my fingers and hands, though of course it looks awesome and lasts forever). Fpr the price and number of colours, go ahead and purchase. (It washes well too, haven't noticed shrinking or fading, just wash gently please). xo
