  Edit: After the bag was open for a day, the smell is now pleasant coffee and the resulting brew was quite nice, I had to reduce the amount of coffee used by half.
  
  I just opened the bag and the beans are every possible colour from light brown to espresso dark. The smell is kind of "not coffee". I have so far always bought Lavazza Crema e Gusto, which has a lovely coffee smell. The smell got much worse after grinding the beans. Smells like old, cheap burnt BBQ sausage left on the grill for a few days. Absolutely awful.
  
  Not sure if this is this particular coffee or if there is something wrong with it. Definitely not on my list to buy again!!!
