A well-paced, plausible, apocalyptic yarn that contains Weir's signature humour peppering everything. This relatively new author has done it again. If you liked The Martian, you will love Project Hail Mary. It feels like classic Sci-Fi when you read it, many seem to want to compare him to Heinlein and Asimov. I'd throw Philip José Farmer in there too. He explains some things very technically and hence believable but in a way that doesn't immediately set your eyes to glaze. Other things he lets your imagination fill in the gaps, it's done in a perfect balance. It is a completely engaging story with a very sympathetic character full of emotion. I don't want to spoil anything for you so just strap yourself in and enjoy the ride. It gets bumpy.
