Customer Review

The Breville worked as advertised right out of the box. I have run about 30 pots of coffee through it by now and find the brew very good no matter which type of bean is used.
Pros: Intuitive interface, was easy to program, especially the timer feature. The carafe kept the coffee quite hot for a surprising length of time after brewing (hours). The instructions are comprehensive and SHOULD BE READ. Don't just read the quick start.
Cons: the shape of the carafe, while keeping the coffee nice and hot, makes it hard to pour, you have to hold it almost vertically, especially during the last couple of cups, the spout is broad and not very directional. The reservoir filling is a bit awkward as the hole is about 1.5 inches square and to one side of the machine, meaning you wont be placing it under a cabinet or next to a wall. Neither is a deal breaker in my opinion for my situation.
To Note: When the manufacturer tells you to keep certain parts or areas clean, do it. I have yet to notice any problems and I rinse clean the filter and filter receptacle after every pot, as well as a quick wipe to the silver disc behind filter assembly. The critical parts or areas are literally labeled "clean me".
This is not a coffee pod style machine, even single cups will take more time but the taste in my opinion is better. Subjectively I also found that using paper filters instead of the provided permanent basket seemed to offer better flavor.
