This is my first NAS device- I purchased a DS723plus on the recommendation of an audio manufacturer, for audio file storage. I鈥檝e only had it for a few weeks and I can say without any reservations that it鈥檚 the most temperamental, unreliable piece of peripheral equipment I鈥檝e ever used. Using it for music applications means it needs to be stable and consistent, but those two words fall well outside any descriptive terminology that could be applied to this device. I鈥檝e spent more time over the past few weeks trying to keep it on my network or find it when it mysteriously vanishes, than actually using it. Today, it mysteriously decided that I had completely filled a 4TB hard drive, even though, I still have another 1TB left on it. I鈥檒l see how my Synology tech service experience goes, if it鈥檚 as poor as the experience of using this device (or trying to submit a support ticket on their buggy website), it鈥檚 going back where it came from and from here on, I will scrupulously avoid this company like the plague.
