  I enjoyed the movie for what it was.
  I don't believe it's a masterpiece or anything though. The mario movie is as faithful to the games as it can be, and its full of fun references. Charles Martinet has a cameo as Giuseppe and Mario's father, and he does this cameo in several languages. I originally watched the french dub because of the positive reception it got online, and hearing Charles in french was admittedly kinda cool.
  
  Anyways, the real downfall for this movie is that its just poorly paced. The audience has no room to breath between set pieces. Its a lot of flash with no substance.
  
  If you want a more original story with better pacing, the Sonic movies are a much better option. That being said, this is still a great movie that gives its target audience exactly what they want. You'll have a great time.
