  I actually forgot it came with a remote. I've never used that.
  
  I have this plugged in with skme rope lights that line a back walkway and it works great.
  
  If power goes out you do have to remember to reset your preferred settings.
  
  Easy to use and the 3 plug option is great for plugging other holiday lights in.
