ZEXMTE Long Range Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter for PC, 590FT/180M USB Bluetooth Dongle for Desktop, Laptop, Printer, Keyboard, Mouse, Headset, Windows 8/10/11 Compatible (Plug and Play) Zemite Purchase Date: - February 20, 2024. My Hardware: - A 10-year-old PC with no Bluetooth. - A wired mouse. My Home: - About 3,000 square feet on 3 floors including a basement. - My urban lot size is 50 feet X 120 feet. - My home office is centrally located in my home on the second floor. - From the edge of my driveway to my home office is about 60 feet. - From my rear fence to my home office is about 60 feet. - My home construction is wood frame + drywall + brick veneer. My Wi-Fi Network: - Rogers Ignite 500 - My computer connection to my wi-fi is a wireless NOT a direct connection. What I Wanted: - A wireless mouse PLUS a pair of wireless Headphones to get rid of the forever tangling wires. - To be able to walk about my house and yard to listen to music through my headphones clearly with no aggravating lag or temporary interruption of music. - To buy portable outdoor speakers like the Sonos Roam or Bose which would be both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi compatible. What I Knew: - Generally, Bluetooth “indoor” range is limited 10 to 30 feet because of obstructions such as walls, floors, etc., competing with Wi-Fi signal and some appliances such as microwaves to name a few. - With the advent of Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.4 there supposedly have been improvements in its performance capabilities as well as its signal distance (for example, as compared to Bluetooth 4.2). - Wi-Fi has a much longer range than Bluetooth. What I hoped for: - I was hoping that the Zemite clear range of up to 580 feet would translate to complete coverage of my lot (60 feet either direction) by overcoming indoor obstacles. This would then allow me clear, uninterrupted music throughout my house and lot using Bluetooth rather than Wi-Fi. Zemite Pros: - Once plugged into my USB port, the Zemite dongle was recognized by my PC immediately. - The pairing of my wireless mouse Logi M650L and V8 5.3 Headphones to the Zemite dongle was easy and extremely fast. Zemite Cons: - My main reason for buying the Zemite was to get clear, unbroken music throughout my home and backyard. - IT FAILED! - Like all Bluetooth dongles whether they are 4.2 version or 5.3/5.4 version they all work great within 10 to maybe 30 feet. Beyond that distance, they fail to meet the standards that they advertise. Bottom-Line: - I am a consumer, not an audiophile or computer geek who plays around with software settings and peripherals. - I naively believe the Sellers advertising and 鶹 reviews. - In this case, I also tried the UGREEN USB Bluetooth 5.3 5.4 Adapter 120M Dongle for PC Wireless Mouse Keyboard Music Audio Receiver Transmitter Bluetooth. IT ALSO FAILED! - I am willing to pay for PLUG AND PLAY devices as is advertised NOT for devices that need me to become a Bluetooth techy. - I only wanted clear and unbroken music throughout my home and yard. These 5.3/5.4 Bluetooth dongles are NOT the solution. - I really wanted this Zemite dongle to work……it did not. - I RETURNED THE ITEM TO AMAZON. - I wasted a lot of time and effort to try to get this BLUETOOTH dongle to work but it consistently had the same aggravating music interruption in my home as previous versions. - To me this is advertising hype only… DO NOT BUY! Recommendations to Sellers/Manufacturers of these items: - There seems to be way toooo much focus on CLEAR, UNOBSTRUCTED SIGNAL DISTANCE calculations in these ads. With ZEXMTE 5.3 Bluetooth it is 580 feet. With UGREEN 5.4 Bluetooth it is almost 400 feet. - I believe that most buyers live in condos, townhouses, or single-family homes in urban areas. As a buyer, I believe that unrealistic to use these long-distance signal calculations for day-to-day use. - It's simple.... most Urban buyers just want to be able to walk around their homes and yards and hear clear and unbroken music. - There is very little data in the ads that focus on signal degradation due to household obstacles such as drywall, wood, metal, conduit, brick, microwaves, Wi-Fi etc., that can negatively impact signal strength. - If such obstacles cause signal strength to be diminished to 10 to 30 feet then the fact that the signals can go out to 500 feet with a clear, uncluttered path is meaningless to most urban buyers. - Sellers/manufacturers of these products should do the signal strength and distance tests in actual home environments and overcome the problem with Bluetooth signal obstruction and leave the 500 feet long-distance stuff to marathoners. These ads are misleading.
