- Reviewed in Canada on January 4, 2024The complete TV series (178 episodes) was received and is playable. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised that all 5 TV movies were also included as a bonus! The content is great as per the original airing of the series. So if you liked the original, do yourself a favour and get the series.
For those looking for 4K quality video, you will be disappointed as the video is the original quality from when first aired in the 90's.
While I love the episodes and cast itself, especially Dick Van Dyke, the CD storage and presentation leave much to be desired. Here are the flaws:
1. There is no overall episode listing provided. While each disc has the episodes listed on it, there is no overall reference. So if you are looking for a specific episode, it would take awhile to find which disc it would be on. I have checked that all episodes and movies are included.
2. All of the discs are provided in 2 separate sleeve holders where each disc is slid into its sleeve. Then both larger sleeves are enclosed in the plastic holder. These holders while keeping the discs separate make it difficult to remove the discs without touching any area outside of the edges. Additionally, they do slip around a little in the sleeve and almost all of the discs had an edge peeking out past the folder when I opened the holder. There were some discs with some scratches on them so I am hopeful there will be no issues with skipping or episodes not playing but will not know until I am further into the series.
3. I found that each disc seems to be a little sticky around the edges which is likely a result of the finishing process in placing the index on the front.
4. The plastic holder has 2 tabs to secure it in the closed position. Mine had one of the tabs broken off when I received it so it doesn't close fully and mine is also cracked along one of the folds.
Overall, I am very happy to have purchased this series and am hopeful that all episodes will play without issue. I will update this review if I encounter any difficulties with playback.
I highly recommend this series to any lovers of mysteries.
