  I won't be long-winded here. I'm an enthusiast (not a pro) who has used a variety of gear over 30+ years of enjoying photography. This lens is one of the best I've ever owned (including L series). Solidly constructed, sharp and the f1.8 over its zoom range creates outstanding opportunities for shallow focus in a wide angle that regularly transform routine images into something special, even in super low light (I detest on-camera flash). I know that some of you will look at the price and be a bit off put, but if you are looking to invest in one lens for walkaround shooting, this is it in my opinion. Damn thing rarely comes off my camera.
