As a new comer to Canada, I wanted a blu-ray player that is region-free, so that I would get to keep all the movies I acquired throughout the years with a region B coding, while get to buy new movies with a region A coding. I was very happy to find this Multi System Region Free Sony X800 player, and immediately bought it. It came into an original Sony packaging, and operated very well for a few months. Until I got stuck with one blu-ray disc which wouldn't work because it did "not match the player's region coding". This is when I realized that all the discs that I played through this device were either region-free or, and here was my surprise, region B!
I contacted Amazom's customer service, who explained to me the deadline for returning the item had passed, and referred me back to the manufacturer (Sony, and not the seller)! Of course, the manufacturer's response was that they did not produce region-free blu-ray players in the first place. And now I am left with a region B blu-ray player, which cannot play region A discs purchased here in North America, and with $600 less.
If I were 鶹, I would remove this product from their website, or at least change the misleading product description!
