Customer Review

So I was really excited to get the new Rift S. It arrived and I set it up. Very quick and easy. 5 minutes, 2 plugs. Graphics resolution is great, brighter screens. Loved that part over the Rift. But... the controllers... they now have the sensor ring over your knuckles, not under your pinky. This makes it IMPOSSIBLE to bring close to your face to aim in a shooting type scenario. You hit the headset, and it's so close to the sensors in the headset that the weapon twists and is unsteady. I can't play any shooter games without holding my arms almost fully extended and I can't aim steady like that. As well, the headset no longer has the built in earphones. While the directional sound is nice, theres NO BASS of any kind. Sound no longer sounds real, explosions and gunfire sound like they are coming from a cell phone on speaker phone. Like a tin can. There's now a large foam cover over your forehead. While its very comfortable, its hot and makes your forehead sweat a lot, which is then no longer comfortable.
With the inability to bring the controller close to my face, and the sound being out of a tin can, I can't play the games I love, and the "realism" of sound you need in VR is gone making it un- fun to play. Not suitable for me, my Rift is much better, so returned my Rift S set. Too bad they had to change some things for the worse.
