- Reviewed in Canada on December 1, 2021I have been using this every day for about a few weeks now and this electric grill has been a game-changer. It's been pretty easy to clean so far, just a little bit of soap and a sponge or kitchen cloth. I tend to clean it while it's still warm from cooking. The burnt-on particles (blood and juices from meat) seem to flake off much easier when it's still warm.
Onto cooking itself. This grills meat to perfection if you know what you are doing. I've cooked burgers up to half an inch thick with no issues of them being undercooked, and pork chops around 3/4th of an inch. They take longer to cook due to their size, but an easy fix around that is to add a little dome of foil to trap a little heat and help cook things a little faster.
I have seen a lot of people complain about smoke with this grill and from my personal experience, I have not had this issue. You are supposed to put water into the aluminum tray under the grill, but I have yet to do that and things have stayed smoke-free so far. Even with the medium ground beef burgers, I have cooked on it twice now that had a lot of drippings, still no smoke. I think giving the grill and the drip tray a proper cleaning after each use is the big reason I have not had the smoking issue that some others have complained about.
I do give this a full cleaning after each use, so I believe that has a lot to do with this being smoke-free.
I loved this grill so much that I bought one to give my mother for Christmas. Well worth the money.
My only complaint is that the plastic is kind of cheap on the grill itself. (the piece that connects the grill element into the cord). One night when I was cleaning the grill it slipped out of my hand and fell 2-3 inches into my sink. That was enough to break the plastic that helps hold the cord into place. it still works fine like this, it's just harder to get the cord plugged into that slot as the guide is partially broken now.
