I have a 12" Cast iron frypan that this grill press fits perfectly, no it is too big for the Lodge 9" pan!
Also works great with a Countertop Flat Top Grill.
Since it is cast iron I just set it directly on a Med-High stove burner and it gets plenty hot where a glove is needed, then press down on bread and viola, proper grill marks!
I also wanted to address the rust issue, so far a non-issue for me and my six cast iron pans, however if you should get rust just use a steel scrubber pad and spray with a light coating of cooking spray and you're back in business.
