I picked this up to do one thing..... I wanted to have a hotspot in a specific situation, where the back haul is also connected to another Wi-Fi network. So private wifi 2.4ghz hotspot access point , where the unit is configured to connect to another wifi 5ghz network at the back end which is connected to internet.
Basically like a private network serving 2.4ghz legacy WiFi , into a back end serving internet via wifi5... Why? I have specific IOT devices I wanted to use a special WiFi 2.4ghz private network out to internet. My current mesh system doesn't really have the capability to do this ... So this is the solution
Works amazing and super easy admin console to configure it.
If I wanted to , I couldve made the back haul wired Ethernet too... Rather than wifi5.
For this purpose it works great. I could see this being useful in hotels too. The admin console lets you connect to a private VPN so all your clients are protected automatically.
