- Reviewed in Canada on May 15, 2024I bought this product 2 times. The 1st batch of 4 filters 鈥 purchased over a year ago 鈥 worked without a glitch. This last batch however, can鈥檛 say as much. I inserted the 1st of the 4 new filters in my Breville Barista Touch yesterday (after soaking it for 10 minutes) and pulled a couple of decent espressos. Today, I had a moment of misery. My son made the 1st coffee of the day. No prob. When I came to pull my morning cappuccino, the compressor sounded like an airplane taking off 鈥 LOUD like never before 鈥 and it spat irregular spurts of coffee through the portafilter. I couldn鈥檛 get the milk at the desired temperature, the steam mecanism would shut off automatically. I thought my coffee machine was on its last leg :( Given that the only variable that had changed was the new coffee filter, I decided to remove it and, lo and behold, everything returned to normal. I had my morning coffee. I decided to try the filter again after cleaning my machine with a descaler. Pulled one double-espresso with the filter put back in but then, on repeated attempts, it started acting-up again, as it had earlier on. Removed the filter and everything sorted itself out, again. Will the 3 other filters of this batch give me grief as well? I鈥檓 a tad reluctant to put my beloved machine through such a grind. Unfortunately, will not be purchasing these knockoffs in the future.
