after about 20 years mine finally died. an element shot sparks across the room before melting completely. so this one being $50 seemed like an ok replacement. I was wrong. it heats up fast, extremely fast. the first time I used it I set it to dark toast and it burnt my toast completely. charcoal through and through. the next time I used it I set it to medium and it cooked kinda medium-dark, I chalked that up to a learning curve. today was the third and final time trying this toaster oven. I had half a medium pizza to warm up. I put the slices on the grill, turned the dial to almost dark, and about halfway through I started hearing popping. the oil from the pizza dripped onto the shroud and the element was catching fire. it fully caught flame, I had to unplug it and blow the fire out like a perverse birthday candle. the other toaster oven never did that. cheese dripped on that one's element and all that happened was the cheese burnt a little bit. this one would have taken my kitchen. I wanted to love it, it looks cool and the price is right but it's not worth the risk and I probably can't even send it back.
