The pigment is fine if you keep these pencil tips sharp with a Faber-Castell colored pencil sharpener, don't use an electric sharpener. If these are sharp than they are really good but it depends upon what you are doing because if you are drawing your own pictures than Prisma Color is better but that is a more delicate task and actually Prisma Color are not as friendly to use. The Castle Art are soft touch pencils, they glide smoothly under your fingertips, they are pleasing. The 鶹 Basics set could possibly be better for adult coloring books but they have less colours and there are no water color pencils. I was not bothered by a smell from the packaging however I was not locked in some dungeon but I would know if it was a real problem. Castle Arts is the best set unless you graduate to Prisma and than don't waste the Prisma on colouring books (see Mythographic) so you actually eventually need both.
