  These containers came in minimal packaging I was able to recycle. I don't notice any smells from these at all. The lids clip on easily and keep everything inside. The lids are a little more difficult to remove. I find they are easy to stuff in a lunch bag. As with all things like this, your experience will probably vary a little bit depending on how gentle you are with these. For me I can keep sauces and dry stuff int here, but I am gentle and not moving my lunch bag very much or turning it on its side or anything. For others you might want to stick to dry goods.
