After a lot of botched attempts they finally got it right! Henry Cavill was terrific as the last son of Krypton and this is the best Superman movie since the early Christopher Reeve films. The star-studded cast was amazing (Crowe, Ladd, Costner) and all were perfectly cast but, for me, it was the villains who stole the show. Michael Shannon was a terrific General Zod and Antje Traue was equally menacing as his Kryptonian sidekick. Within the ingenious plot, there were times that the viewer could emphasize with the villains, whose only crime was their commitment to the survival of their Kryptonian race. Although Jor-El was well intentioned and refused to go against the laws of Krypton, it was General Zod who dared to question their decision to stay on the doomed planet and chanced to overthrow them. I have been a fan of the "Man of Steel" since I was a boy and this was one of the better re-telling's of Superman's origin. The film was fast paced and exciting and the effects did not disappoint. The Krypton scenes made you feel like you were on a planet much further advanced than our own. This is the best live action DC comics movie ever! Let's hope they keep up the momentum and kick some Marvel ass! This one would have made Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster proud!
