It鈥檚 Christmas Eve, and I asked my husband to build this toy for our 2.5-year-old鈥攅asy enough, right? He grumbled a bit (standard), opened the box, and started sifting through the pieces with the precision of a man on a mission. Meanwhile, I, in full-on mom mode, waltz in, drop a few random stocking stuffers right into his carefully arranged chaos, and somehow... somehow the top Hot Wheels piece goes MIA. Gone. Disappeared. Vanished like the Christmas spirit after a few too many eggnogs.
Cue the frantic search. We scoured the stockings, the garage, even the neighbor's house (okay, not really, but I was this close). Nada. Zip. Zero. We even turned the house upside down in a Christmas Eve scavenger hunt worthy of its own reality show. Spoiler alert: the piece was still MIA.
So here I am, holding out hope that Little People will send us a replacement part, because my holiday cheer depends on it. I鈥檓 giving this toy a solid 4 out of 5 stars鈥攂ecause if you ignore the missing piece and the frantic scrambling, it's a pretty great toy. But Christmas Eve should not involve a mystery puzzle.
Moral of the story? Always check the box twice before calling it "good to go"鈥 and never underestimate the power of one tiny orange piece to turn your holiday into a comedy of errors.
