- Reviewed in Canada on December 13, 2013I'll admit this will be a biased review. Because I. Love. West Wing. I've had this set for a few years now and it's gotten plenty of use.
The seasons are arranged as a file folder would be. Each season containing about 6-12 discs, and containing numerous special features. (I've never been into special features so I can't really review them, sorry, but they're there!).
I've always liked the feel of the folder-like arrangement of the seasons. And it helps in organization/finding your correct place. The included season guide booklet has been a help, with listings and descriptions of each episode.
This entire collection is -very- compactly arranged, with great photos of each cast member on each season folder. And as I've said, have had this collection with me for a few years now, through a few different moves and packing boxes, and it still looks rather new. (Except for some of the folders which are my fault...). It's a sturdy little construction.
Would definitely buy this again. I mean, you're getting 150 or so hours of entertainment here! I'll keep from reviewing each season and some of the episodes and keep to the actual collection...
Buuuut.... If you like political dramas, with a big dash of wit, intelligence, and comedy. You'll love The West Wing. Some of the lines/speech's, events are some of the best writing in television, that will move you to tears, make you laugh, and think. Do you know why I keep coming back to The West Wing? Because in a world so cynical, so intent on mindless entertainment, and so oft tired, this series lets you remember there's more out there than what can be easily seen, makes you remember how far we've come and yet to go in so many ways, even as we stumble in so many others.
