鶹 Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
This attachment is designed to be connected at the front of your Kitchenaid stand mixer. Kitchenaid mixers have an area where you can connect various attachments, in this case, allowing them to use the motor of your mixer to power the shaving blades. Since we already have our mixer out and it lives on the counter, the accessory is convenient to use whenever it is desired or needed.
You use it by adding pre-frozen ice blocks that are made using the included ice molds and then, putting the ice blocks into the accessory. The attachment is spring loaded, so you will add the ice blocks in and it will continue to push them towards the blade. It will start shaving the ice and producing fluffy shavings which will exit through a hole and drop downwards. These ice shavings are perfect for a cold iced beverage, and kids (and adults) are sure to enjoy it.
It only takes about a minute to get enough ice to be able to make a drink. The ice can be mixed into a number of different drinks such as juice, water or even coffee to create an iced coffee. You can also buy specific syrup to create the iconic slush flavours that we have grown up with.
The box includes 8 plastic cups and lids that you will fill with liquid (water can be used for plain ice). You will place the cups into the freezer to freeze them so that they can be used with the shaver. When you remove the cups out of the freezer, let them thaw slightly before using it in the device to ensure the ice is not super frozen and hard. You likely want to use one of the more powerful settings on your mixer to ensure that the ice is able to be shaved nicely and that there is enough power for the motor.
Because the ice shavings drop out of the bottom of the unit, you will want to place a bowl beneath in order to catch them.
One tip is to mix with a liquid or juice that is already cold when adding your ice shavings, this will ensure it does not melt the shavings right away. Alternatively, you can freeze your liquid into the molds and shave it down directly instead of diluting it with ice.
The only thing to keep in mind is that you need to plan ahead before attempting to use this, since you cannot really use regular ice cubes and should be using the molds in order to make the appropriate sized ice blocks. It may take a bit of trial and error the first time you use it, but once you get used to it, the process is actually really simple.
