I had rewired a lot of my panel from aluminum to copper and saved my information on a spreadsheet on my computer which had accidentally got deleted so I bought this to help me re-trace.
Works well when you figure out how to use it. But at first you think its garbage.
#1 Before you think the item is junk.... remember is that its not a silver bullet for finding breakers but a rough tool. The signal that the transmitter puts through the line can be mimicked by a similar signal by regular electronics (LED light fixtures and various radio/TV/Internet equipment) AND if lines are close the one another to the line with the transmitted signal it can be carried over.
So..... before you go and plug in transmitter and start swiping away.
#1 Swipe your panel WITHOUT THE TRANSMITTER PLUGGED IN TO ANYTHING and see if there is any background signal coming through first and flip off those breakers.
# 2 Try again with the transmitter as per the instruction manual. Once you get that out of the way it works great.
Unfortunately for me I'm a procrastinator and only traced the circuits I needed to rewire in some new outlets and switches so I left the rest of the spreadsheet for another day.
