Initial Thoughts: The coffee maker is great. Like a lot of reviews will point out, you should measure your kitchen counter before purchasing so you know it will fit. I use it every day. Makes great use of my beans. I found the upper strength settings very strong but I found my preference well suited at strength setting 1-3 depending on the roast.
Unlike some reviews, I find the coffee temperature fine. I don't preheat the carafe. It's nice that it comes with a reusable filter as an option but I prefer a paper filter so I've never used it.
I've only had the machine for a few weeks prior to this review so I cannot comment on reliability. So far I find it easy to use and keep clean. For the price my expectation is that it lasts many years.
2019 Update: I've used the coffee maker for 2.5 years on a daily basis. It takes some commitment to keep up on the cleaning of the chute, chute disc and a descaling every 4-8 weeks depending on usage and water quality. However, I finally encountered the 001 error where the chute disc lost it's ability to stop on it's mark for brewing. This renders the machine useless. In summary, I liked the machine. It made great coffee. The winning combination of being able to set the machine to freshly grind my beans and brew them on a timer was excellent. It really hit all the functionality I wanted. Down sides were the commitment on cleaning the grinder chute and disc weekly. I'm not sure if a $300 coffeemaker should last more than 850 brew cycles as it did for me. The chute disc mechanism is a common issue on this unit and it ultimately took out my unit. 3 Stars based on great machine but seem like myself a lot of other customers fell victim to the 001 chute disc fault. 1 more year of use and I would have given it 4 stars.
