I bought this to replace another igniter that failed just past the 鶹 return window. I figured, "Meh, some manufactured goods just break immediately." Perhaps I'm just unlucky because I live in a house with an address that starts with 5.
I installed this new one, made sure that it was functioning properly, then reassembled my oven. Three hours later, I turned my oven on to make dinner, and the oven wouldn't heat up. I checked to see if there was proper voltage, and there was. I removed the igniter and discovered it was in pieces.
I have no way of knowing what the failure rate of these things are, as I have a sample size of exactly two. The Blue Star OEM lasted six years. I never once replaced the igniter in my previous oven, a 1982 vintage Jenn-Aire.
I do get the feeling that this is an ongoing issue after reading comments on this igniter across multiple vendors.
