  I tried taking my newborn's temperature with another thermometer (one not specifically for infants) and it took far too long. This thermometer is great as it takes just a few seconds when taken via the armpit (I haven't tried any other method), so even if he's fussy or crying due to discomfort, it'll be quick. It's simple to use too - hold the button to turn on, insert into armpit, then it beeps when done.
