If you don鈥檛 have a Tesla or other EV that automatically updates based on live data this is great.
Most EV charging trip planners use a set rate for highway travel but doesn鈥檛 account for blasting the heater to warm up or dry off, they don鈥檛 account for being caught in an atmospheric river that really impacts range or crawling in traffic not using much battery on the highway. 2-3 kwh100km compared to over 20kwh/100km at highway speeds. So the access to real time data is helpful.
I use it especially with A Better Route Planner (ABRP) app that allows me to get real time info on my EV鈥檚 state of charge and with ABRP subscription when driving it updates the directions based on live data which adjusts the charging location to minimize charging time. The subscription is reasonable and well worth it for a road trip. It works seamlessly.
The only downside to this and many OBD readers is their lack of security, so leaving it plugged in opens your car up to potential risks as someone else can gain access to your vehicles info and systems. So that鈥檚 why it gets a 4 not a 5
