After installing and calibrating using a baerwold standard protractor, setting tracking force to recommended specs and checking the whole list I put the stylus down on a brand new copy of Avicii - True to find the left channel was substantially louder with awful sibilance. I swapped the channels on the back of the cartridge to rule out any error in my pre-amp or any other unit in my stack and sure enough the right side was now doing the same thing. I then removed the cartridge from the headshell completely and rewired and re-calibrated everything. Unfortunately that did not fix anything. From what I could tell on the right channel the music sounded quite good, but far too much treble with really flat bass with no definition at all. The whole experience was very disappointing and has turned me away from Ortofon as a brand and I no longer trust their products. I will be returning this unit and I have since "upgraded" to a Audio-Technica VM95EM which sounds incredible and doesn't have that harsh treble I mentioned and has much cleaner and warmer bass response. I'm not one to review products harshly and I tend to give every item and brand the benefit of the doubt as much as I can and because of that I am only rating it 3 stars even if my experience with it was 1 star. I would not recommend this cartridge to anyone, not just for my poor experience but this cartridge is makes for an abysmal time trying to line anything up on an alignment protractor. There are no straight edges to line anything up with.
